body and food

im always hit with qns on, 'how should i lose weight' or 'what should i eat to weigh like you'. a chat with a friend recently made me wonder how much one understand the meaning of eating health vs going on a silly diet. understanding your body + understanding food is all you need to keep the weight you want. it really annoys me when i see someone going on a diet when all they have for all three meals are bread, cereal and tons of salad. bread are starchy carbs (undigested carbs turned into sugar that are stored as fat), cereal contains a lot of sugar (even the plain tasting ones) and salad with or without dressing (doesnt provide enough nutrient for the body)! im not a nutritionist so skip this shit if you think you're better. but come on man, some stuffs are juz so common sense, you dont need a professional.
i will get fat if i eat after 8pm? eating anytime of the day is fine as long as you know what you are eating and in moderation. if you find yourself bingeing at night, chances that you are not eating anywhere near enough good calories during the day. dude -> always allow your body to fully digest the food before heading to bed. the digestion rate for an ave person takes about 3-4hrs which means if im planning to sleep at 1am, im allowed to take my last munch at 9pm. never sleep with a bloated stomach! i feel bloated/hungry when waking up. when your stomach starts to groan upon waking up, ask yourself if you have eaten enough for dinner and/or if you have hydrate enough. bloated stomach can be caused by many factors (http://www.womenfitness.net/stomach_bloating.htm) but if its from eating too much, you should allow food to be digested before heading to bed (sleeping with a full stomach can cause indigestion). dude -> always have a cup of warm water beside your bed. its always good to hydrate your body before heading to bed with sips of water. i would advice taking sips of water every time you find yourself waking up (water can help to flush sodium out of the body, and that reduces the bloat). why shouldnt i sleep with a bloated stomach? that is bcos the body doesnt function as actively when you are awake! the rate of digestion is slower (like how a sleepy dude cant be as productive as an awake dude). there is a higher possibility of undigested food. that in turn is stored as fat! good/bad carbohydrates...what the hell are they? bad carbohydrates (refined simple sugars) are rapidly digested and absorbed into the bloodstream. if there is a high concentration of blood sugars (hyperglycaemia), then [the excess SUGARS] can be stored as fat. fiber in good carbohydrates helps slow down the rate of digestion, controlling blood sugar levels, which results in a longer window of time during which the body can burn the calories from the good carb. dude -> dude, even potatoes contain sugar! have to eat in moderation to prevent excess sugar from storing as fat! how should i count calories? rmb the time someone said that muscle weighs 3 times as much as fat? in fact, 1 gram of muscle weighs the same as 1 gram of fats, but the amount of space fats occupy is larger. that analogy kind of helps when you think of grams of food: 1 gram of protein has four calories 1 gram of carbohydrates also has four calories BUT 1 gram of fat has nine calories dude -> limiting the number of grams of fat you consume each day makes it easier to stay in your caloric budget. you gain weight when you consume more calories than your body burns. i should only eat when im hungry? people who skip meals or eat erratically have a tendency to overeat to make up for the food they missed. and eating too few calories actually triggers your body to hold on to fat and burn fewer calories. starving yourself to the point where your body thinks it needs to conserve calories for the long haul is both unhealthy and works against your weight loss goal. dude -> make wise choices when eating! the goal is to have a balanced meal; greens (veg), reds(meat) and whites(rice, noodle). a bloated stomach indicates that you are over eating! there should be space left for fruits. whatever you do, always eat in moderation. there is no miracle fat burning food! consuming large quantities of certain foods may offset the body's balance to digest, absorb or neutralize byproducts or toxins in the body. dude -> thats why you dont see yourself losing weight by eating a pile of bread and fruits alone! they may work against you and in turn, gained weight! source: http://shine.yahoo.com/healthy-living/10-weight-loss-myths-facts-203000404.html oh btw, if you think diet coke is healthy, they are fking not! (some of the above info may not be right so i urge you to share you opinions) Tschus! be responsible for your body! staying healthy is all that matters 0 comments |
